This micro-lot was selected as this year's Best of Nariño, by the professional cupping team at Inconexus Fine Coffee in Colombia. Sr. Loaiza has been farming for more than 5 years at this remote farm, high in elevation. He is working towards building better access for his family and workers. He uses his own micro-mill, which allows meticulous care in depulping, and he ferments for 12 hours, and dries 7-14 days.

Nariño's proximity to the equator delivers intense exposure to the sun which influences the cherry maturation rate. In Buesaco, warm air rises from the canyons and acts like a protective blanket for the coffee plants on mountain tops. These combined attributes allow the plants to passivly absorb the sun's energy throughout the day and come alive at night when conditions are less harsh.

This translates into concentrated flowering and long cherry maturation periods, producing multiple award-winning coffees, including 1st place this year in Colombia's Cup of Excellence.
