Optimal growing geography is only part of what makes coffee from Huila so sought after. The farmers in this region are really what sets it apart from other growing regions. With several generations worth of knowledge and talent when it comes to cultivating, harvesting and processing their coffee, Huila has continued to produce some of the best coffees in the world. Our importer has been working with the farmers in this region for more than 25 years, developing deep relationships and providing infrastructure and support to the region and its families. A community center was built in the early 2000s, with all operating costs covered by a handful of the regions exporting partners, offering childcare and infant nutrition programs. This coffee comes from several small family farms passed from generation to generation, making the coffee not just a crop but an extension of the family and the pride they have for what they do. The work and knowledge is evident in every cup, clean, smooth and creamy, this coffee, and the talent that created it, is an excellent example of what this region has to offer.
