Our Peruvian Espresso: Coffee with a Purpose

Cafe De Mujer

When translated into English, this coffee literally means “Coffee of Women” because almost all labor involved was done by women! Not only is this coffee Fair Trade and Organic Certified, it is also grown by 124 women producers that make up 30 percent of an organization called APROCCURMA (Asociacion de Productores Cafetaleros de la Cuenca del Rio Marañon). Formed in 2012, APROCCURMA is working with local producers to improve both quality of life and quality of coffee. They are also working to have more women-owned land to allow for a higher percent profits to go directly to the women producing the coffee!

With tasting notes of dark chocolate, walnut, and caramel, this is a wonderfully balanced espresso that is perfect alone, but is also great in milk-based drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos. This is an espresso that is easy on the palette, so we would highly recommend trying a shot on it’s own if you haven’t tried espresso before!

At Form & Function, it is important for us to be supporting noble causes all round the globe. The coffee other nations provide for us is amazing and they should be properly treated and empowered for the work they are putting in to produce great coffee. Coffee is so much more than a casual drink to be had with a friend, it can provide income and freedom to the people who need it most. This is the motivation behind our coffee and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
